This Bed & Breakfast was my very first and it blew me away. Our hosts were so welcoming, thoughtful and helpful. My mother and I stayed here for three days, visiting from the east side of the state and we didnt know about a lot in the area. But upon our arrival, after being greeted with beverages and given a tour around the home Jim sat down with us and showed us a map of the Douglas/Saugatuck area and pointed out all the best spots for food, drink, shopping, and atmosphere. It was very helpful. After getting settled in we wandered by lake Michigan, which is conveniently just a five minute walk down the road. And whether you go left or right at the fork, you have a beautiful path to walk down. There are many old and new lake houses all down the street, and never a bad view of the water. The swimming pool has a very secluded and private feeling with high fences and lots of lounging and shaded area. The temperature of the pool is like bath water, comfortable to swim in at any time of day. You can hear all the birds and wild life around you when you're sitting outside and its so relaxing. Our room, and really the whole house, was very clean and very put together with very comfortable beds and pillows. My mother and I joked about stealing the pillows because we slept so well on them! (But we didnt of course). And to top all of this off, our breakfasts were excellent. Nolene prepared both savory and sweet breakfasts on either day and they were both unique and delicious. She handmade their granola to pair with fruit and yogurt with freshly baked breads. Im a huge food lover and love to try new things, and I absolutely appreciate how thoughtful she was in preparing and plating our meals. It felt very personal and special. And also, they are accommodating to dietary restrictions which made me very happy. So to end this already lengthy review, I highly recommend this Bed & Breakfast to anyone. Thank you Nolene and Jim for treating us like family. I hope to see you again soon!
