Rudy's Favorite Applesauce
After picking apples with
Rudy, we discovered this great concoction (you can use other apple combinations).
8 Granny Smith and
8 Jonathan Apples, cored, peeled, and chopped
1/4 Cup fresh-squeezed lemon juice
1 teaspoon lemon zest
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon cinnamon
3/4 Cup brown sugar
Place all ingredients in large pan
and cook on medium heat, stirring frequently, approx. 30 minutes (until
apples are soft), then use potato masher to mash apples. Let cool then
refrigerate.
